This building bears one of the first testimonies to the Portuguese colonialist presence in Mozambique. It was in this building, around 1584, that the first customs services of Mozambique started operating, in what was to become the first capital city of Mozambique.
As a trading post, Ilha de Moçambique was one of the main stops on the famous trading route to India and the customs house was where most of the trade product, including the slaves, was unloaded from the ships.

This estimated cost assumes that all materials will be imported exempt from import duties and taxes.
The monthly levies cover the cost of guards, water and electricity to the communal areas and basic site maintenance and cleaning.
